Privacy Policy for SplitPayMe

1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to SplitPayMe ("we," "our," or "us"). Your privacy is our highest priority. SplitPayMe is designed as a privacy-first, on-device financial utility application for calculating single-bill splits, tracking group vacation expenses, managing multi-payer contributions, and computing optimized debt settlement directions.

This Privacy Policy outlines how your information is handled when you use the SplitPayMe mobile application. In short: SplitPayMe does NOT collect, harvest, transmit, or monetize any of your personal financial data, member names, or expense records to remote servers, third-party advertisers, or tracking services. All data remains strictly stored on your local device.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Data Created & Managed by You (Stored Locally)

When you use SplitPayMe, the app stores the following data locally on your device using an encrypted Android Room Database (SQLite) and DataStore Preferences:

• Session & Trip Titles: Names assigned to bill calculations or trip events (e.g., "Dinner Bill", "Trip 2026").
• Member Names & Groups: Friend names, group presets, and member IDs entered by you.
• Financial Calculations: Expense totals, tip percentages, currency selections, itemized payer contributions, custom split amounts, percentage breakdowns, and settlement direction statuses.
• App Preferences: Selected theme mode (OLD Indigo Classic vs. NEW Emerald Green OLED Black) and haptic feedback settings.

B. Device & Technical Information

• Haptic Feedback Motor: SplitPayMe utilizes the device's internal vibration motor (HapticFeedback / Vibrator) to deliver tactile button press feedback. No device identifier or hardware fingerprint is collected or recorded.

3. How Your Data Is Used

Your data is used exclusively within the app to deliver core features:

• Calculating exact per-person owed amounts, tip allocations, and itemized payer contributions.
• Generating per-expense optimized settlement matrices to minimize total debt transfers among group members.
• Maintaining persistent calculation history and multi-expense trip logs.
• Exporting structured text receipts when you choose to share complete event settlements via native Android share sheets (Intent.ACTION_SEND).

4. Zero Cloud Transmission & No Third-Party Tracking

• No Remote Servers: SplitPayMe operates entirely offline on your local device. We do not own, operate, or connect to any remote server or external database to collect or transmit your activity.
• No Analytics or Telemetry: We do NOT integrate third-party analytics SDKs, telemetry frameworks, or usage tracking tools to monitor app behavior.
• No Advertisements or Profiling: SplitPayMe is completely ad-free. It contains zero third-party advertising networks, ad-tracking scripts, or commercial user profiling systems.

5. Data Storage, Security & User Control Rights

A. Data Retention & Storage Location

All application records are saved in your device's isolated app storage directory (/data/data/com.saamio.splitpayme/databases/).

B. Backup & Data Portability (Import / Export)

You are in full control of your data. Using the Phone-to-Phone Data Transfer feature in Settings, you can:

• Export your entire calculation and trip session history into a structured .json backup file.
• Import previously exported JSON backup files into SplitPayMe on any new or existing Android device.

C. Absolute Data Deletion ("Danger Zone")

You have the right to permanently erase all stored data at any time:

• Open Settings > Scroll to Danger Zone > Tap Delete All App Data / Reset App.
• Confirming this action in the warning modal instantly purges 100% of saved trips, member groups, single-bill calculator sessions, and user preferences from your device's storage.
• Alternatively, uninstalling SplitPayMe via your Android System Settings automatically deletes all application data files stored by Android.

6. Third-Party Sharing Intent

SplitPayMe allows you to manually export and share formatted text receipts (e.g., via WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, or Email) using standard Android System Share dialogs.

• User-Initiated Action: Sharing occurs only when you explicitly tap the "Share Receipt" button.
• No Background Sharing: The app never transmits your data silently or automatically in the background.

7. Children's Privacy

SplitPayMe does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. Because the application does not collect personal identifiers from any user, it fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families Policy standards.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or legal compliance. Any changes will be included in updated app releases (such as in-app release notes) and posted in official documentation.
