Welcome to SplitPayMe, the smart group expense and settlement manager. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our application. We built SplitPayMe with a strict Privacy First approach, meaning you remain in full control of your financial information.

1. Information We Collect and Store

SplitPayMe is designed to function locally on your device. We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal identification to use the app.

• Local Data: All data you enter into the app—such as participant names, expense amounts, trip details, and settlement histories—is stored exclusively on your device using a local Room SQLite Database.
• No Cloud Syncing: We do not upload, sync, or transmit your financial data to external servers, cloud databases, or third-party analytics services.

2. Permissions Requested

To provide you with the best experience, SplitPayMe may request the following permissions:

• Storage/Media: Required only if you choose to export your expense data (e.g., generating JSON files for backup) or save formatted receipts to your device.
• Haptic Feedback: The app uses standard device vibration features for the custom keypad. This does not collect personal data.

3. Third-Party Services and Sharing

SplitPayMe does not share your data with third parties. However, the app includes features that allow you to share data manually:

• Sharing Receipts & JSON: If you choose to share a settlement receipt or export a JSON file with your group, you may do so via third-party apps (e.g., WhatsApp, Telegram, Email). Once the data is passed to these apps, it is governed by their respective privacy policies.

4. Data Security

Because your data stays on your device, the security of your information relies on your device's security. We recommend using built-in device protections such as a screen lock, PIN, or biometric authentication to protect your financial data from unauthorized local access.

5. Children's Privacy

Our application does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Any updates will be posted on this page and will become effective immediately.
